This is a trail that is in the more rural area of Santa Rosa, how it was more like where I live now 20 years ago, but this is a little more dry and less vegetated. It was paved probably for a off-road walk to the new highshool they built in the area due to the increased population here. These fields will eventually get developed up with new homes, as until every square inch is used up, speading will persist. Along this path are some good lots for some hives, as there are lots of ox-tongue, sage, and eucalyptus, along with lots of other wild flowers around.
The creek used to just have maintenance roads along the sides, but (for the kids, I think) decided to pave one side, and call it all a county park. Heh heh. The other side is un-paved though, and is quite nice. It has very little trees or shrubs in many areas, and is not very good during hot days unless you go in the morning/evening. An excellent spot for winter though, as one side is paved. You can even bring a horse on it. The trail is only about a mile long though. The other side of the street has a higher gate to climb over than on this side, if you wanted to go further than the mile long one.
