Welcome to my collection of music. Most of theses are all self-compiled from video games and encoded in various formats/bitrates.
Just about all of the Mechwarrior music can be found here, at least to the games. It is some of my favorite music.
If you are on a dial-up or other low-bandwidth connection, select 20kbps. Other bitrates are for higher bandwidth (atleast a 128kbps connection) or for downloads in case you wanted them on your own computer.
If .wma files are not playing, download a player that supports wma files, such as Winamp or Windows Media Player. If .ra files do not play, get RealPlayer (pre-install note: Real is very self-obsessed, and I advise against its use). Currently there are no content encoded with the Real codec here due to an annoyence of their marketing style viewed by the Mebonty `Code of Honor' and will most likely not appear, so you will not have to worry. MP3/WMA Files will be made of most songs, and WMA is depriciated here (again due to originating company style). MP3 is also not favored highly due to patent issues and royalty fees, although MP3Pro has NEVER been used, or any of their ``patented" (you cannot ``Patent" software, I am sorry - it is like patenting the quadratic equation), so in anycase, different algorithms are useds. LAME is the encoder used mostly here. Other codecs are used here, and codecs that are not out there for themselves, but for thier product. Remember, most are there for money, not an excellent product. FAAC, Ogg Vorbis, FLAC are used. If you cannot play them, visit their site, or see some downloads below. Windows Media Player (direct show player) can play all of them, but WinAMP is preferred. There are a lot of Linux programs that play them, such as xmms, mplayer, xine.
If any of the sounds appear to not work, make sure you have the proper files needed in order to play them. A small collection of them is available on the file downloads page. This page has plugins and player links for the codecs used.
You may also be interested in some of my recordings that I have made over the years. These are mostly of birds/planes - things many do not like.
NOTE: There is a new batch of MP3 encoded files, Encoded with LAME on linux (used VBR, highest quality algorithms, and at VBR quality of 6 (about 128 Kbit/sec)). These are of far better quality than previous encodings, which were poor quality/bitrate. There is also an Ogg Vorbis directory and a FLAC directory as well (although not really put up yet for everything). I will eventually add these into the corresponding locations, but right now they are still together, as it makes an MP3 cd and fits onto a 700MB cd (uses 359619 Sectors). If you have a burner and want the full image, than I may still have the mp3cd.iso file around. It is simply an ISO9660 (with Joilet and longname support) of these songs.
